Jeep’s Upcoming Recon EV: A Game-Changer in Electric Off-Roading

Jeep is making significant strides in the electric vehicle market, and its latest model, the 2026 Jeep Recon EV, is generating excitement among off-road enthusiasts. Inspired by the iconic Wrangler, this all-electric SUV promises to revolutionize EV off-roading. First announced in 2022 as part of Jeep’s parent company Stellantis’ electrification strategy, the Recon EV is one of four electric Jeep models planned for release by 2025. With production set to begin in early 2025, anticipation for this rugged electric SUV continues to grow.

A sneak peek of the Recon EV recently appeared in Jeep’s Super Bowl 2025 commercial. The advertisement, featuring Hollywood legend Harrison Ford, primarily focused on Jeep’s electrified lineup, including the Wrangler 4xe Plug-in Hybrid. However, sharp-eyed viewers noticed a brief cameo from the Recon EV. Automotive news sources, such as Electrek, quickly covered this subtle reveal, signaling that Jeep is moving closer to the vehicle’s official debut.

Although Jeep has not yet released official pricing or pre-order details, the company has taken steps toward the model’s launch by introducing a dedicated website: www.jeep.com/recon.html. According to Road & Track, full-scale production will begin in February 2025, with the first units expected to hit the market later that year. Originally, Jeep had planned to launch the Wagoneer S before the Recon EV, but production setbacks forced a timeline adjustment. The Wagoneer S is now expected to arrive in January 2025.

Designed for adventure seekers, the Recon EV is built to compete with off-road contenders like the Ford Bronco and Tesla Cybertruck. One of its standout features is the removable doors, a hallmark of the Wrangler lineup, allowing drivers to fully experience open-air exploration. Spy photos published by Electrek in December 2024 provided an early look at the Recon EV, showing a design with light camouflage and an option for standard doors.

Despite the growing anticipation, Jeep is keeping some details under wraps. Official pricing remains unknown, and the brand continues to classify the Recon EV as a “pre-production” model on its website. However, with its emphasis on off-road capability and eco-friendly power, the Recon EV is expected to attract significant attention when it finally hits the market.

Harrison Ford’s involvement in Jeep’s Super Bowl ad added an extra layer of excitement to the brand’s electrification journey. Known for his rugged on-screen roles and commitment to environmental causes, Ford was a fitting choice to help highlight Jeep’s push toward EV adoption. Meanwhile, automotive media outlets, from Electrek to Road & Track, continue to monitor Jeep’s progress, covering everything from spy shots to production updates.

The 2026 Jeep Recon EV marks a major step forward in Jeep’s shift toward electrification. With production set to begin soon and an official launch expected in late 2025, off-road enthusiasts and EV fans alike are eagerly awaiting further details. As Jeep moves full speed ahead with its electrification strategy, the Recon EV stands out as a bold and promising addition to the automaker’s lineup.
