Nour News, connected with Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said that Ali Shamkhani would visit the UAE on Thursday.
His visit to Abu Dhabi coincides with the Iran-Gulf reconciliation. This week, Shamkhani participated in China-brokered discussions that led to Saudi Arabia, and Iran establishing diplomatic relations following a 2016 suspension.
The visit comes as Saudi Arabia’s finance minister, Mohammed al-Jadaan, claimed Saudi investment in Iran could happen “quite fast” after last week’s accord.
Since Abu Dhabi sent an ambassador back to Iran in September, six years after downgrading ties, Shamkhani’s visit to the UAE shows increasing ties between Tehran and Abu Dhabi.
“Saudi investments in Iran are plentiful. As long as agreements are followed, we see no problems “al-Jadaan.”
On Wednesday, China hosted the latest Saudi-Iranian talks and began combining maritime maneuvers in the Gulf of Oman with the Russian and Iranian militaries.
Since 2019, the three nations have conducted four similar drills, which will go on until Sunday.
As Iranian demonstrators stormed the Saudi embassy in Tehran in January 2016, Saudi Arabia broke ties with Iran.
For over a century, Dubai has been one of Iran’s primary trading partners.
