Iran’s navy leader announced a naval alliance with Saudi Arabia, three Gulf states, India, and Pakistan on Saturday, according to Iranian media.

“The countries of the region have today realized that only cooperation with each other brings security to the area,” Iran’s navy commander Shahram Irani remarked.

He did not describe the upcoming alliance.

Iranian-Gulf Arab relations are improving.

A China-mediated agreement between Saudi Arabia and Iran ended seven years of hostility in March, emphasizing regional peace and economic cooperation.

Naval Captain Irani said the coalition includes UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Iraq, Pakistan, and India.

Saudi Arabia’s reunion with Iran prevented Israel’s diplomatic isolation of Iran.

The UAE, the first Gulf Arab nation to reestablish relations with Israel in 2020, restored formal relations with Iran last year.

After UAE, Bahrain, and Morocco linked with Israel.
