Tailors worldwide are about to receive a whirlwind of business in the upcoming months. As Apple prepares to release the new iPhone 6, clothing companies are somewhat dreading the repercussions of the new craze. With the industry in full belief that bigger is better, the next iPhone is expected to be a store buster and a pocket buster.

The new screen ranges from 4.7 inches to 5.5 inches, which is significantly larger than the current 4-inch screen. At first thought, this comes across as a wonderful addition. However, digging a little deeper, convenience weighs more heavily than appearance for consumers. If this new phone cannot fit in a standard-sized pocket, how are people going to react?
“We would prefer that customers don’t carry their phone in their tailored jacket pocket,” said Mark Calder, creative director of Robert Talbott, according to Bloomberg Businessweek. “But we realize it’s critical to their work life and their social life, so we acquiesce.” Calder may be planning to reconstruct the pocket size on the company’s garments, but other businesses may or may not be that flexible.
Izzy Zuber, who owns LS Men’s Clothing in Manhattan, expressed how the culture of men’s clothing preferences has changed. “Zuber’s clients have been asking for dividers in the breast pocket of their jackets, so their phones sit vertically rather than ‘falling down,’” stated Bloomberg Businessweek.
The upcoming release of the new iPhone is final, and businessmen seem to be adamant about purchasing the product. Either fashion is going to have to make an adjustment or Apple may be losing crucial customer business.
