Indonesia’s president condemns Myanmar’s human rights violations. At the close of a conference of Southeast Asian leaders on Thursday, Indonesia’s president warned that human rights violations in military-ruled Myanmar cannot be condoned and that violence must immediately cease and people must be safeguarded.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who also serves as ASEAN chair, recently stated that his country is willing to talk to any party involved in the conflict in Myanmar and that engagement with any party does not imply endorsement or recognition.
