Reports have it that the Chinese tech giant, Huawei had initially scheduled to launch their MateBook X Pro earlier this week, but due to the bites from the United States government, they have suspended the launch with every chance of it being cancelled.

The Huawei’s consumer device chief, Richard Yu confided with the CNBC about the cancellation of the launch and a dent in the chances of Huawei to venture into the private computer business is owed to them being listed in the U.S, government’s entity list last month. Yu went on to say that the situation was unfortunate while strongly disembarking on their plans for launching the PC. “We cannot supply the PC,” he told CNBC on Tuesday.

Although the company’s president and chief executive mentioned that they were going to go ahead to produce their components, their MateBook X Pro which its launch was cancelled was relying on Intel chip processors and Microsoft Windows 10 operating systems. Due to the United States blacklisting, these tech companies were not permitted to give enough supply for Huawei to further their cause; BBC News reports.

Some other tech companies outside the US have started cutting supplies to the Chinese giants under the persuasion of the US government, BBC reports. AMD, the UK-based chip making company owned by the Japanese SoftBank has instructed the halt of supply of components to Huawei. This could be because its research and development works are carried out in the USA.

This development may not signal a tap out from Huawei because about half of their revenue last year was generated from consumer electronics, which is majorly smartphones. Their MateBook laptop line, since its launch in 2017, has not taken the revenue chart significantly irrespective of the excellent customer reviews it got after its launch, The Information reports.

Notwithstanding that US companies and foreign companies that have ties with the US are cutting off supplies to Huawei businesses, the Chinese giant has been working tirelessly in closing deals with other companies outside the USA. According to Financial Times, Huawei is in close ties with Audi, Toyota, and others as they venture into playing a visible role in the development of self-drive cars.
