Google announced Thursday in its annual conference that it partnered with Razer to create a game console.

“By partnering with Google on this initiative, living rooms around the world will be places for people to connect to their entertainment interests and to each other seamlessly,” Min-Liang Tan, Razer’s CEO, told the International Business Times.

Building a game console seems like a reasonable next step for Google to compete with its biggest operating system, Apple. According to the International Business Times, Razer is a San Francisco-based company with about 500 employees that sells gaming computers and accessories.

CNN reported the OUYA game console that runs Android just went on sale Wednesday after raising $8.6 million on Kickstarter. It sold out quickly on Amazon. With a giant like Google coming in to the gaming market, OUYA needs to watch out for competition.

The Wall Street Journal reported Google is also working on a smartwatch that seems like another step to thread its competitor.
