Germany fails Ukraine jet alliance requirements. On Wednesday, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that Germany lacked the personnel and resources to actively assist a British-Dutch proposal to supply Ukraine with fighter jets.
After meeting with his British counterpart in Berlin, Pistorius said, “We cannot play an active role in such an alliance, in such a coalition, because we have neither the training capacities, the competencies, or the planes.”
Although Britain, Germany, and the United States have so far declined to deploy their own F-16 jets to Ukraine, Britain said it was working with the Netherlands to form an international coalition to help Ukraine secure F-16 jets from its allies during a summit of European leaders in Reykjavik this week.
