GAP Inc. has been a popular clothing brand in the United States since its inception about 46 years ago. The apparel store founded by Donald and Doris Fisher has traversed all though the United States and even worldwide.
However, the clothing brand seems to be facing a few unfortunate occurrences at the moment. GAP Inc. will be shutting down about 175 of its stores all across America. After this humungous shut down, approximately 500 stores will still remain. That isn’t all; the corporate office will be cutting about 250 jobs as well.
Apparently, the GAP outlet stores will not be affected by these major changes. The changes will take a few years to come into effect, and the harsh decisions have been made in order to increase productivity and make the brand a little more profitable.
The parent company that also owns subsidiaries like ‘Old Navy’ and ‘Banana Republic’ was going through a rough patch with the business but will now be taking a stance and making the necessary changes.
Hopefully, the brand will be able to focus on quality now that it has decreased the quantity of its stores in North America.
