Stellantis (STLAM.MI) and Foxconn (2317. TW) will design and sell vehicle electronics from 2026.
SiliconAuto will offer Foxconn and other clients Stellantis and its “STLA Brain” electronic and software architecture.
“SiliconAuto will provide customers an auto industry-centric source of semiconductors for the growing number of computer-controlled features and modules, particularly those needed for electric vehicles,” they said.
In December 2021, Stellantis and Foxconn signed a prospective automotive semiconductor partnership. Stellantis owns Fiat and Peugeot.
Semiconductors, important to low-emission and linked mobility, are in short supply worldwide.
“Stellantis will benefit from a robust supply of essential components, which is critical to fueling the rapid, software-defined transformation of our products,” stated CTO Ned Curic.
SiliconAuto will be controlled by executives from both parties in the Netherlands, where Stellantis is. Stellantis and Foxconn’s Mobile Drive joint venture creates in-car and connected-car technology.
