Picture an app that enables you to send texts, pictures or a combination of the two to complete strangers. You could fire off texts to up to 50 people at a time, and tap your fingers as you anxiously await a reply. Or two. Or 30. Well, that scenario can be a reality with Fling, a new app headed by Marco Nardone. He’s also the founder of a U.K.-based social network startup called Unii.

You can receive texts from people you don’t know, and you can also see the general locations of people that reply. All you have to do is double-tap a reply to write back privately. It’s only a month after its release on iOS, and Fling has already racked up 375,000 downloads and 180,000 daily users.

Most tech-savvy people might see Fling’s usefulness in, well, arranging spontaneous flings. A user looking to find a “sexting” partner could initiate a discreet photo exchange to get the ball rolling and take it from there.

Marco Nardone said, “The app is a bit of pot luck—you never know what you’ll get each day, but all it takes is finding something in common with a fellow flinger to start a great conversation. With its impressive first-month figures, Fling effortlessly combines private messaging, randomized global distribution and intrigue into modern day communication.”

Fling has already reached the top ten in app ranking in Canada, Finland and Germany. It boasts two million daily user sessions and has logged more than 150 million “flings” received.
