On June 30, the musician received the 2024 BET Lifetime Achievement Award, but his acceptance speech was plagued by digital glitches. Many of his 10-minute address was muted for unknown reasons, according to fans.
One fan posted on X, “How they silence Usher’s whole speech like that.”
One social media user joked, “I know Usher ain’t cussing so much that they’re muting his whole speech. Like WTF!”
Usher confessed he skips Wednesday meals.
The wordless speech raised questions about what the “Yeah!” performer was saying onstage.
“Why did BET mute Usher for most of his acceptance speech? Someone joked, “Is Usher telling industry secrets because the censoring is crazy.”
After 30 years in music, many fans wanted to hear the eight-time Grammy winner’s message.
“Usher is a living legend,” tweeted. I’m glad he got flowers. While he’s around to accept them. He’s dead and deserves affection. He’s still killing it.”
Usher confirms Bieber Super Bowl discussion
Usher contradicts claims that he invited Justin Bieber to appear at the Super Bowl LVIII halftime show.
The 45-year-old is grateful for the acknowledgment, posting on Instagram before the show: “30 years of U and I…My first days! Many thanks to @bet for my Lifetime Achievement Award and tribute performance.”
Usher also won Best Male R&B/Pop artist earlier in the evening, praising his fellow fathers.
“It’s important to understand that fatherhood is so important,” Usher said from the stage. “All the fathers tonight at home or in the audience, please stand up for two seconds for me. Too frequently, we tell our mothers, ‘Look Ma, I made it.’ We rarely say, “Dad, I did it.”
He said, “This one is for all the men who are generals to their sons and inspiration for our future Black leaders, young men.”
