- Disney collaborated with many other media operations to purchase $71bn deal in March 2019
- Fox Searchlight Pictures renamed by Disney as Searchlight Pictures
- 20th Century Fox Television and Fox 21 Television Studios still not renamed by Disney
US media communicated that Disney no longer wants to remain associated with the media tycoon, highly biased, and right-wing Fox News network. However, there is no clear-cut clarification given regarding its decision and the reason behind it by Disney.
Disney bought a studio, in collaboration with other media operations, at a lucrative deal of $71bn deal in March 2019.
Movie lovers across the globe are well aware of the fact that 20th Century Fox is popular and enjoy a great name and fame for the production of some of the biggest blockbuster films of all-time. The names on the list include both Avatar and Oscar winner, Titanic.
Variety magazine emerged as the first one to broke this news regarding the name change and mentioned that they interacted with one of the unnamed Disney sources. That representative said: “I think the Fox name means Murdoch, and that is toxic.” Most of us will agree to the fact that Hollywood remained liberal in its approach, unlike the Australian tycoon.
Recently they also took the initiative and renamed the Fox Searchlight Pictures, the arthouse arm, as Searchlight Pictures only. Changes in the internet correspondence system were also noticed as now the Staff emails from last Friday were changed, from @fox.com to @20thcenturystudios.com or @searchlight.com.
In the mid of 1980, Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation bought the actual 20th Century Fox company, and in 1996 the Fox News channel was born, and with every passing year, it kept growing and emerged as the most-watched channel in the US.
In later time the News Corporation got split into News Corp and 21st Century Fox, and Disney acquired that is the parent company of several films as well as television studios, including the famous one 20th Century Fox. The family of Murdoch retained the news outlets like a spin-off company, Fox Corporation, which will be managed by Lachland, who is the son of Rupert Murdoch.
Variety Magazine spokesperson confirmed the news that the 20th Century Fox studio’s popular fanfare theme, along with the searchlight logo, would be retained.
One point that can’t be missed to share here is that Disney is also running 20th Century Fox Television besides Fox 21 Television Studios. Any change to be made in their names so far not been announced by Disney.
As the world knows that Disney is one of the dominant forces or rulers in the US news industry, being the owner of the ABC network. Well, the next time, we may hope to see Disney, challenging Netflix with Disney+, which is their streaming service and was launched last year in the US.
The world is still trying to accept the dramatic Logo change done by Disney.
