What is product filtering in CPQ?

Product Filtering: When a company has a vast inventory of hundreds of thousands of items, it can be challenging for sellers to find and add goods to sales quotes. This problem comes from the vast number of goods that need to be sorted, which wastes a lot of time and causes mistakes when quoting.

Product filters in CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) are vital tools that make setting up conditions specific to a product more accessible and faster. They make it possible to configure products in ways that are very specific to the customer’s needs. Based on search filters, this function lets companies decide which products are shown during product configuration. Users can quickly search for and narrow down product choices while setting up products and getting price quotes.

The selection of a product can be based on its type, size, color, price range, or even custom features. The goal is to make shopping more specific for customers and quote-making more efficient for salespeople.

Why product filtering is necessary for CPQ?

A critical part of CPQ software that helps make the sales quote process more accessible and better is the ability to sort products. It does away with manual processes that might take longer and result in mistakes. By filtering, companies can quickly narrow down a list of factors, like product category, availability, or pricing structure. This can help them make quotes more quickly and more accurately. Product filtering also improves accuracy by letting users pick only relevant things from an extensive list of services or products. This makes it less likely that they will pick the wrong item or pricing scheme for their quote.

Good things for sellers

Product screening makes sure that sales quotes are correct. This tool lets Sales Operations admins add advanced filtering options to the CPQ settings for the company based on tags and product attributes. This makes it easier to look within the catalog, which helps sellers make quotes faster.

With the new filtering options, users can search the product catalog in more detail and narrow down their results by using specific criteria like product features, characteristics, or tags. This speeds up the search process and ensures that the quotes created meet the customer’s needs, making them more accurate and useful.

Pros for Customers Who Use Self-Serve CPQ

Businesses use product filtering to improve the shopping experience for their customers by making it easy for them to find what they need without having to look through each product description by hand. It also ensures that customers can only choose from the offered products. Product searching not only helps customers find what they need faster, but it also helps businesses make more sales by letting customers decide what to buy faster.

Product Filtering and Guided Selling: How They Work Together

Product screening and guided selling are handy tools that improve the sales process and make it easier for customers to buy things. Product filtering makes it easy for sales reps to quickly find the goods and options they want by limiting their choices based on price, features, or compatibility. Businesses can create a dynamic and interactive sales journey that fits the wants and preferences of each customer by combining guided selling with product filtering.

Product filtering makes it easy for salespeople to find the products or bundles of products that meet the needs of their customers without having to sort through a lot of choices that aren’t relevant. Guided selling goes one step further by giving customers personalized ideas and recommendations based on what they say during the filtering process. It asks customers specific questions to learn about their use case, income, and other preferences.

Combining product filtering and guided selling ensures that customers quickly find the best goods while learning valuable things. Collaboration not only speeds up the decision-making process but also makes customers happier and more loyal by giving them a solution that fits their needs correctly.

How to Use CPQ to Set Up Product Filters

Sellers can quickly find products that meet specific criteria by allowing advanced filtering options. This leads to more accurate quotes and happier customers.

Setting up product filters is done differently in each CPQ program. Here are the steps for setting up product filters in DealHub CPQ to show you how to do it.

To begin, you must first turn on the Product Selection Filter tab by doing the following:

  • Go to the Playbook.
  • Pick the question group you wish to work on.
  • Go to the menu that says Settings.
  • Go to General Settings and then the product selection filter.
  • Press the “Enable repeatable” button.
  • Click “Table Settings” and pick “Show question group as a table.” 17.
  • Add the option that says “Enable product selection” so that you can choose products and add them.
  • Click “Save” and “Done.”

You can now make changes to the “Product Selection Filter” tab.

How Sellers Use Product Filtering in DealHub CPQ

The sellers can use the Product Filter configuration after the manager has chosen and applied all the necessary filters for the Question Group in the playbook, saved the changes, and turned on the version. From the sellers’ point of view, they can add or remove filters, clear all filters, freeze columns, and do other things based on actions in the configuration.

In conclusion, being able to sort products by attributes and tags makes looking for and adding items to an extensive catalog much faster and more accurate. Sellers can quickly find goods that meet specific criteria by allowing more advanced filtering options. This helps them give more accurate sales quotes and makes customers happier.
