What exactly is Hyperledger Explorer?

Hyperledger Explorer is an open-source blockchain utility module that lets users build a user-friendly web-based application that allows them to examine, start, organize, and query various assets and developments that are part of the blockchain network. Mainly, it is intended to be used on Hyperledger-based blockchain implementations.

Exploring Hyperledger Explorer

The Hyperledger project has steadily grown since its beginnings in 2016, leading to the creation of Hyperledger Explorer. Under the direction of the open-source Linux Foundation, over 130 businesses worldwide use and contribute to it. With such a high degree of flexibility, there is a need for an easy-to-use, human-interpretable tool that provides a dashboard view of blockchain events. Thus, Hyperledger Explorer was born, with contributions from technological titans such as IBM and Intel and the premier financial sector clearing and settlement organization DTCC. Each created their version of Explorer before joining forces to pursue a shared goal through the Hyperledger project.

Like Windows Explorer and Task Manager, Hyperledger Explorer is a simple interface that allows users to see the blockchain’s network statistics. It comprises information such as the name, status, and list of network nodes; information about blocks, transactions and associated data, transaction families, chain codes, and any other important information on the blockchain.

Because most raw blockchain data is in a format that humans find difficult to read, Hyperledger Explorer tries to provide a simple visualization by employing graphs, charts, photos, templates, and the standard search and monitoring functionality.

How Functions

Its architecture contains a web server in the backend that interacts with all other components and maintains the appropriate query-server response. Web sockets communicate between the server and the various client components of Hyperledger Explorer. The RethinkDB database stores information on blockchain components such as blocks, transactions, and smart contracts, and users can search for any necessary information. The security repository maintains secure and permitted access to the Hyperledger Explorer.

Blockchain developers developing a specific feature or component on the blockchain, researchers studying historical developments, blockchain operators managing the blockchain, or top management may require Hyperledger Explorer for real-time, unified enterprise-level visualization.

Hyperledger Explorer offers and is configured to depict several aspects in the animated picture below.

Conclusion

  • Hyperledger is a simple Web application tool for seeing and interacting with transactions, digital wallets, and other data in a Hyperledger blockchain implementation.
  • The Explorer is a helpful tool for discovering and comprehending otherwise machine-readable data stored as encrypted ledger entries.
  • Aside from basic blockchain explorer features, the product offers enterprise-level visualizations that may assist decision-makers through intuitive graphs, charts, and tables.
