On Monday, Diageo Plc (DGE.L), the largest spirits firm in the world, said that CEO-designate Debra Crew would take over as temporary CEO. In contrast, outgoing CEO Ivan Menezes receives medical treatment.
The company announced in a statement that Menezes, the long-time boss scheduled to retire at the end of the month, is currently hospitalized for treatment of medical ailments, including a stomach ulcer.
Over the weekend, Diageo said that Ivan’s recovery had been put back significantly due to complications following emergency surgery on the ulcer.
Crew, 52, was appointed to replace Menezes as CEO of Diageo in March. The company is well known for producing Johnnie Walker whisky, Tanqueray gin, and Don Julio tequila.
