Beijing and Cairo Palestinian rivals, such as Hamas and Fatah, agreed to form a unity government at talks held by China on Tuesday, Beijing said. The deal was meant to create a government in Gaza after the war, but Israel quickly turned it down because it wanted to destroy Hamas.
Analysts said it would be hard to carry out the agreement because different groups in Palestine are very hostile toward each other and the West doesn’t want Hamas to play any part in government. There was no set date for execution.

The readout says that the Beijing Declaration was signed at the end of a reconciliation meeting between 14 Palestinian groups that took place in China’s capital from July 21–23.
There have been many failed efforts to heal the Palestinian national schism, but this meeting was the latest one.
