China EV maker Zeekr unveils a fast-charging LFP battery. The Chinese manufacturer Geely (0175. HK) (GEELY.UL), which owns the luxury electric car brand Zeekr (ZK.N), revealed lithium iron phosphate batteries that it has created and are capable of supporting rapid charging on Thursday.
To reduce its reliance on third-party suppliers for the essential components of electric cars, sometimes known as EVs, Zeekr has become the most recent manufacturer to introduce such a battery in an industry known for its intense competition.
Geely Holding Group, the parent company of Zeekr, announced that its upcoming 007 sedan would be the first model to feature the batteries at a battery plant in the province of Zhejiang. These batteries can be charged to a sufficient level in fifteen minutes to achieve a driving range of 500 kilometers (300 miles), and they are accompanied by an electric electrical system that operates at 800 volts.
According to a story Reuters published this month, Zeekr’s Chinese rival Nio (9866. HK), which has also been developing its battery solutions, plans to spin off its battery manufacturing operation to reduce costs.
To power its 001 crossover and 009 multipurpose vehicles (MPV), Zeekr has utilized nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) batteries that were manufactured by CATL (300750. SZ), which is the largest battery manufacturer in the world.
Additionally, CATL has introduced fast-charging batteries that will be utilized in Li Auto’s (2015) fully electric MPV Mega. These batteries will allow for a driving range of 500 kilometers (300 miles) and a charge time of 12 minutes.
