China brokerage CITIC reports 3.6% Q1 profit increase.

On Thursday, China’s largest brokerage, CITIC Securities Co (600030. SS), announced a 3.6% increase in first-quarter earnings due to higher investment returns as the economy improves.

The corporation reported 5.4 billion yuan ($780.22 million) in January-March net profit.

The company’s first-quarter investment income rose 89.6% to 5.82 billion yuan.

The report revealed 7.3 billion yuan in net fee and commission income, down 10.8%.

CITIC shares in Hong Kong finished flat on Thursday at HK$16.28 before the results, compared to a 0.42% advance in the broader market (.HSI).
