Changes Are on the Way For The BMW i3

Insiders report that 2017 will indeed be a year of change for the BMW i3 electric city car, as the BMW i3 is to be completely redesigned. The revamp of the electric car will change the rear, front, and battery range. The battery range will be increased beyond 180 miles this will ensure drivers more time in between charges. While sources promise that the new battery range will grow significantly, it will be less than a 50% increase. A BMW spokesperson told IBTimes UK that,

“BMW has a process of ongoing development for its cars from launch through to complete new model. From time to time some models receive engine or styling changes during their lifetime. This is a natural process that many other manufacturers also adhere to.”

The range was boosted earlier this year from 22kWh to 33kWh, which increased its battery range from 80 miles to 114 miles. This new version seemed to quell the fears of consumers, who now have turned to the all-electric version of the i3 rather than the extended edition that comes with a small gas tank that acts as a fail-safe when the battery dies.

As far as electric cars go, the i3 is the best choice throughout Europe. It beats electric car sales against competitors like Nissan, Volkswagen, and even Tesla.  This new version will be the first body change the i3 will undergo since it was first launched in 2013. Over sixteen thousand BMW i3 were registered in Europe just last month, which made BMW the best-selling of any electric car in October alone. BMW is more than confident in the future of the i3. The electric car has far exceeded company and consumer expectations with over 60,000 electric vehicles sold since 2013.
