CDK Global does not anticipate its dealer management software, used by US dealers, to be restored by the end of the month due to a cyber assault.
According to CDK’s message to dealers, the auto industry technology and software supplier could not get all dealers online by June 30 and requested them to make alternative preparations for their month-end financial closing operations.
Over 15,000 US retailers utilize CDK’s software.
CDK CEO Brian MacDonald told reporters that he was talking to “many dealers, OEMs and partners directly.”
The article said CDK was “working around the clock with leading third-party experts to get dealers back to business as usual and as quickly as possible.”
The CDK downtime has prompted some U.S. car dealers to use manual documentation. A source said it affected half of Volkswagen and 60% of Audi dealers in the US.
Honda, Toyota, and Hyundai were watching the outage to assess its effect.
Honda advised impacted dealers to utilize other tools and techniques to continue business while CDK systems are down.
