Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston, 58, indicated in a CNN interview on Thurs., May 28, that he is not at all opposed to a “Breaking Bad” comeback. Cranston even stated “never say never” when asked if Heisenberg would be revived on television. This possibility has certainly excited the AMC hit’s large fan base.
A spinoff for Breaking Bad, which will be entitled “Better Call Saul”, about the show’s criminal/ comic relief lawyer Saul Goodman, is already in the making. The spinoff will follow Goodman’s character prior to the topsy-turvy events which unfolded throughout Breaking Bad. Vince Gilligan, Breaking Bad creator, stated that some of the show’s characters will be coming back for appearances in “Better Call Saul”.
As the five season series ended, it seemed definite that Walter White was dead as 10.3 million viewers tuned in for the finale. However, when Ashleigh Banfield, CNN host, asked if Walter White’s fate had been sealed on the finale he responded, “You never saw bags zip up or anyone say … you know.” Could he have survived the severe gunshot wound and his terminal cancer?
Breaking Bad won an impressive amount of awards even the Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series. A source told HollywoodLife.com, “With the new show coming and the possibility of flashbacks or flash-forwards, there is going to be something with Walter White. They won’t do it as a gimmick, it will actually mean something when they do it. Definitely expect the return of Walter White in some way, shape or form in the new show.”
Viewers certainly grew attached to this drama chock-full of blue meth dealing mayhem. Fans had closure with the show when it ended in Sept. 2013. In many ways, Walter White’s death was the perfect, and perhaps only satisfying, ending for this major anti-hero. Nevertheless, with a show like Breaking Bad it’s difficult to ever say that its been enough.
