President Joe Biden said Saturday that talks with Congress to raise the U.S. debt limit were progressing and would be revealed in two days.
“I’m not sure, but they’re progressing. “We have not reached the crunch point,” Biden told reporters at Joint Base Andrews.
“We’ll know more in the next two days,” he said.
Biden will continue negotiations with Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and other congressional leaders early next week.
Leaders canceled a Friday meeting to let personnel discuss.
As talks on lifting the $31.4 trillion debt ceiling to prevent catastrophic default progress, Biden and McCarthy’s aides have begun discussing methods to cut federal spending, Reuters reported.
Without a debt ceiling increase, the Treasury Department could run out of money by June 1.
