Belarus confirmed on Tuesday that it will host Russian tactical nuclear weapons after years of US and partner pressure to reverse its geopolitical course.

On Saturday, Putin threatened to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, a close ally, intensifying a standoff with the West.

On Tuesday, the Belarusian foreign ministry claimed Minsk was working with Russia to defend against the West.

“Over the previous two and a half years, the Republic of Belarus has been exposed to unprecedented political, economic, and information pressure from the US, UK, and NATO partners, as well as EU member states.”

These situations warrant increased security and defense for Belarus.

Belarus would not limit Russia’s nuclear aspirations, according to Minsk.
