Last week,  the title of the new Superman movie was announced. It is, “Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice”, a title which has sent die-hard fans in a frenzy. The production was also confirmed by Warner Brothers which will begin in metro Detroit.

It was also confirmed that “Argo” writer, Chris Terrio, will be writing the screenplay and that “Man of Steel” director, Zack Snyder, will be directing. Affleck will be returning as Batman while Henry Cavill will return as Superman. Gal Gadot is going to play Wonder Woman. Amy, Adams, Diane Lane, and Laurence Fishburne are among the cast members, occupying their roles from “Man of Steel”. Other stars who have signed on include: Holly Hunter, Jesse Eisenberg, and Jeremy Irons.

The internet responses to this statement have mostly been comprised of comic-book-nerds’ anger. One tweet mockingly, and humorously, posed the question: “Oh my god. What if ‘Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice’ is A LAW MOVIE? And ‘Batman v. Superman’ is the lawsuit?” @Hello_Tailor. While Patton Oswalt jeered, “BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE. Coming in September, to Lifetime Networks”.

This is the first time these two iconic superheroes will be on screen together. Many propose that this is Zack Snyder’s, means of segwaying into the long anticipated Justice League movie, which he has already signed on to direct. The title seems to imply this.

The specifics of the titles have had internet forums buzzing. Questions are so meticulous that fans are repeatedly questioning why “vs.” has been reduced to “V”. Many suggest that at the film’s resolution Superman and Batman will unite forces, which they have inferred by the use of “dawn” in the title. The logo for the film is a new but closely resembles the original logo shown to fans at last summer’s comic-con.

Superman and Batman’s supposed consolidation will not be reached until the end of the film. Snyder maintained that this is a Superman movie, the sequel to “Man of Steel”, and therefore Batman will serve as an antagonist.

The filming will take place in Detroit, Illinois, Africa, and the South Pacific. Warner Brothers plans to release the film in theaters on May 6, 2016. With an entire two years left until its opening, little is  known about the superhero flick.
