At the UN on Thursday, Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian issued a dire warning: the US “will not be spared from this fire” if Israel continues retaliating against Palestinian terrorist Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

“I’ll be blunt with the American leaders overseeing the slaughter in Palestine: we oppose any further escalation of the conflict in the area. However, they won’t be exempt from this fire if the slaughter in Gaza keeps on, he warned the 193-member General Assembly at a meeting on the Middle East.

In reprisal for an attack on October 7 that resulted in 1,400 deaths and hundreds of hostages, Israel has pledged to destroy Hamas, the organization that controls Gaza. Israel has launched airstrikes against Gaza, established a blockade, and is getting ready to invade on land. According to Palestinian officials, almost 7,000 people have died.

According to Amirabdollahian, Hamas informed Iran that it was prepared to free civilian captives and that the international community should work to free the 6,000 Palestinians detained in Israeli jails.

“Along with Qatar and Turkey, the Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to contribute to this crucial humanitarian effort. Naturally, the international community must also fulfill its obligation to free the 6,000 Palestinian prisoners,” he stated.
