At its annual Worldwide Developers Conference opening Monday, the business is anticipated to announce a cooperation with ChatGPT developer OpenAI and present its first batch of generative AI tools for mobile OS.
Since users are waiting longer to upgrade their smartphones and the economy is unpredictable, especially in China, a large push into AI might boost iPhone sales and services for years to come. Washington regulators are also scrutinizing the business, which Nvidia passed as the second-largest public corporation this week.
“We see generative AI as a key opportunity across our products and believe we have advantages that set us apart there,” Apple CEO Tim Cook said on the company’s most recent earnings call in early May, promising news in the “weeks ahead.”
The timing is also important: Apple usually researches, develops, and projects new technology for years before incorporating it into new products, but the world’s rapid adoption of generative AI may be accelerating the company’s need for a smartphone with cutting-edge technology.
Wedbush analyst Dan Ives said Apple’s AI investment will “kick off a new frontier for Apple” that will affect its goods and services.
