Some relatives of the 121 individuals crushed to death at a religious event in Uttar Pradesh are still seeking for their loved ones a day later.
The event occurred during a satsang organized by self-proclaimed preacher Bhole Baba.
Police have charged the event’s principal organizers for Tuesday’s crush, which was caused by overcrowding at the Hathras district location.
It’s one of India’s deadliest crowd-related catastrophes in years, where shoddy safety and crowd control are blamed.
On Wednesday, lawmakers and several cops visited the scene to learn about the catastrophe.
Dozens of workmen removed the massive tent from the event area, 500 meters from the main road. The self-styled guru’s name and picture were on two colorful arches at the entry and exit.
Large puddles of water made walking difficult after early morning rain.
The organizers created a brick walkway to the main stage. It was covered with victims’ garments and shoes, a heartbreaking reminder of the numerous lives lost.
Most of the dead and injured were women, officials said.
Neighbor Yogesh Yadav was among the first to hurry to the scene.

Nearly 250,000 individuals came, authorities said.
Police allowed 80,000 people to attend the rally, according to the FIR. About 250,000 people attended.

We observed scores of folks waiting to collect their loved ones’ remains at Aligarh’s major hospital.
One guy asked for his aunt, who had been missing since Tuesday afternoon.
Hridesh Kumar wailed outside the mortuary.
“My wife Sarva Devi came with our two children to the prayer meeting with some of our relatives. My uncle and children were not wounded. He stated the crush killed his wife.
“How will I raise my kids without her? My entire existence has flipped upside down.”
