André Assous, renown NY based designer, is debuting a collection of shoes and accessories for spring 2015. These pieces are uniquely inspired by and modeled off of his own artwork. This is a fantastic opportunity for Assous to prove himself as an artist in the realms of painting as well as designing.
For these designs, Assous recreated and adapted portions of his watercolors which he will put onto his signature espadrilles, Western-style boots, among other signature shoe styles. This colorful line will make its first appearance at the FFANY show. The items will go for $165-275
Assous has expressed his interest in painting. He describes it as a passionate hobby which he indulges in when he has some free time. Over the years, he has created over 30 paintings, however he has given most of them away to friends and now only has around 8 to call his own.
According to Assous, the collection is principally based on “Shoe Bizz”, an abstract painting which he made back in 1996. The shoeboxes, as well as a tote bag, will also use the same artwork that has been incorporated into his shoeline. The designs are printed onto 5 of his classic shoe styles: the moccasin, pump, wedge sandal, and canvas espadrille.
