Amazon’s Attempts to dominate Wearable Tech Industry

We’ve reached the point where technology is unavoidable. From cell phones to self driving cars, innovation is being integrated into our daily lives as far as the eye can see. But Amazon doesn’t just want you to just possess it, they want you to wear it too. With the release of their new wearable technology marketplace, they are offering a slew of wearable tech that includes smart watches, activity trackers, wearable cameras, and they have even developed activity trackers for your pet (or elusive small child). The new virtual store offers trusted brands such as Samsung, Jawbone, and GoPro, but also relatively young brands like Misfit and Basis. Most of these devices will set you back about $100 dollars. Figuring out which device best suits your needs is up to you, but we’re going to list a couple of our favorite’s together anyways.

MisFit Why it’s awesome: As far as monitoring activity this little beauty does it all. It monitors walking, running, swimming, your basketball performance, and even monitors activity while you sleep. With the shape and size of the dial of a wristwatch, it is quite suited to be worn on the wrist. It is a unique piece because it can be removed from its watch band. There are also two types of necklace pendants that can be purchased. The battery is estimated to last about 6 months without a charge. It is also waterproof up to 50 meters. Pricing starts at $99.99.

Narrative Clip If you are always wanting to take pictures but hate having to do all those pesky things like hold the camera, this new gadget is for you. It is the smallest wearable camera on the market. The camera can hold up to 4,000 pictures and you should expect to get at least 2 full days of battery life before recharging. It automatically takes pictures and plugs right into your computer for easy picture transferring. Pricing starts at $99.99.

UP & UP24 Developed by Jawbone, these electronic bracelets monitor everything from walking, to eating and sleeping. According to its description on Amazon “The app displays movement and sleep details from your UP or UP24 band and delivers insights, celebrates milestones, and challenges you to make each day better.” The UP24 will stay connected to your smartphone and sends activity and goal updates. The UP starts at $99.99 and the UP24 starts at $124.99.
