Since 2021, Fumio Kishida has been Prime Minister of Japan and LDP president. He was Foreign Affairs Minister from 2012 to 2017 and interim Defense Minister in 2017. In addition, he led the LDP Policy Research Council from 2017–2020.
From a political family, Kishida attended primary school in New York City. Kishida became an LDP member of the House of Representatives in 1993 after working in finance.
According to Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and the other members of the Group of Seven (G7), Japan is putting up a fresh set of sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.
During a press conference to commemorate the invasion’s first anniversary, which Moscow calls a “special military operation,” Kishida stated that Japan would also pressure other countries to stop supporting Russia.

The UK and the US imposed further penalties against Russia on Friday, including export prohibitions on all wartime equipment.
Kishida did not specify the additional measures.
Last month, Japan banned some exports and froze Russian officials’ and businesses’ assets.
