An inquiry is underway after an 81-year-old man was run over and killed Saturday morning outside a fast-food restaurant.

At 9:25 a.m. June 29, officers responded to the McDonald’s on Main Street’s 700 block for reports of a person hit by a car.

Police arrived and found that a red Toyota truck driver was pulling out of a parking area and suddenly accelerated, hitting a man exiting the business.

Police pronounced 81-year-old George Stepp dead at the scene. The truck driver was examined at Medical City Lewisville Hospital.

Lewisville Police are investigating whether the driver had a medical issue that caused them to reverse so quickly.

No news on whether Toyota driver will face criminal charges. Lewisville police closed the establishment for their investigation.
