Billionaire Elon Musk and Argentina’s libertarian president have vowed to collaborate on advancing free market principles and exploring potential lithium ventures following their meeting in Texas, the headquarters of Musk’s Tesla electric car company.
During their visit to Tesla’s Austin headquarters, Musk and President Javier Milei discussed various topics, including the importance of revitalizing declining birthrates worldwide and advancing technological innovation while upholding individual liberty.
Musk, renowned as one of the world’s wealthiest individuals, has previously expressed admiration for Milei’s staunch advocacy of private enterprise and criticism of perceived socialist overreach.
Argentina’s incoming ambassador to the United States, Gerardo Werthein, highlighted the discussion on lithium—a critical component for rechargeable batteries powering future electric vehicle fleets—in remarks to local media. He emphasized Argentina’s commitment to not only exporting raw materials but also adding value to lithium products.
Werthein noted Musk’s expressed interest in supporting Argentina’s lithium industry, indicating a potential partnership for development.
Furthermore, Milei expressed solidarity with Musk amid a dispute over Musk’s social media platform, previously known as Twitter, in Brazil—a sentiment conveyed in a statement by Milei’s spokesman Manuel Adorni on X, the platform in question.
