Gaza border crossing set to reopen as Israeli troops prepare ground assault. Amid diplomatic efforts to provide supplies to the enclave subject to severe Israeli shelling since the Islamist organization Hamas rampage murdered 1,300 people, a border gate under Egyptian authority into Gaza is anticipated to reopen.

Israel is conducting the most intensive bombing Gaza has ever seen, has imposed a rigorous blockade, and is planning a land invasion in response to the surprise attack on cities and villages.

An arrangement for its secure delivery to Gaza and the evacuation of certain foreign passport holders through the Rafah border has been days in the making. Still, hundreds of metric tons of supplies from several nations have been held up in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula.

“Rafah will open once more. After meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Sunday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated, “We’re putting in place a mechanism with the United Nations, with Egypt, with Israel, and with others, to get the assistance in and to get it to people who need it.”

Blinken did not specify the crossing’s reopening time. Veteran American diplomat David Satterfield, who was named on Sunday as a special envoy for humanitarian concerns in the Middle East, will go to Egypt on Monday to finalize the arrangements, according to Blinken.

Joe Biden, the United States vice president, has encouraged Israel to respond to the Hamas assaults by the rules of war. On Sunday, he said in a social media post that “the vast majority of Palestinians had nothing to do with Hamas’ appalling attacks and are suffering as a result of them.”

In an interview with CBS 60 Minutes that aired on Sunday, Biden stated that Israel must destroy Hamas, although he cautioned against Israel occupying Gaza.

According to NBC News, who cited a Palestinian source, the Rafah border crossing will open on Monday at 9:00 a.m. (0600 GMT). Without offering any information, ABC News stated the crossing would be open for a short period on Monday, citing a security source. Reuters could not immediately confirm both reports.

In the confined enclave of more than 2 million people, Israel pleaded with weary Gazans to go south, and hundreds of thousands have already complied. The government in Gaza, Hamas, has urged residents to disregard Israel’s warning.

“Hamas has always said that there is no surrender, there is only freedom and justice,” the terrorist organization said in a statement on Sunday.

The bombing assault Israel carried out overnight, according to Palestinians in Gaza, was the heaviest since it began its retaliatory attacks last week. According to them, Gaza City experienced particularly intensive bombing, with aircraft targeting the vicinity of two of the city’s primary hospitals.

On Monday, the United Nations humanitarian agency (OCHA) said that the fuel supplies at all hospitals in the Gaza Strip are only likely to survive for about 24 more hours, putting the lives of thousands of patients in danger.

Authorities in Gaza said that at least 2,670 people have been killed and almost 10,000 injured due to Israel’s retaliatory attacks, with a quarter of the victims being minors. One thousand more persons were missing and thought to be buried under the wreckage.

In preparation for a deadly ground attack, U.S. government officials claim they are mobilizing to assist in easing the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. Washington is particularly concerned about preventing a violent spillover because fighting with Lebanon intensifies near Israel’s border.

Blinken said that the Arab leaders he recently visited were committed to preventing the violence from escalating. Blinken is also attempting to free 155 hostages, including Americans, who Israel claims were brought back into Gaza by Hamas.

Iran, which supports Hezbollah and Hamas, warned Israel of an escalation if it continued to assault Palestinians and added that it could not only claim to be an observer.

EARTH OFFENSIVE ANTICIPATED

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met with the extended emergency cabinet of Israel on Sunday to demonstrate unity. “Hamas believed we would be destroyed. We will destroy Hamas, he declared.

Israel’s military claims it is responding by attacking Hamas and its infrastructure after amassing tanks on Gaza’s border in preparation for a ground operation.

The head of Hamas’ southern sector was killed on Sunday as Israeli aircraft attacked roughly 250 military installations, according to the military. Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, head of the Israeli military, informed soldiers stationed close to the Gaza border that Israel would be entering Gaza to expel Hamas and strike “every place, every commander, and every operator.”

CRISIS IN HUMANITARIANISM

Water, food, and gasoline cannot enter Gaza due to an Israeli siege. Still, Netanyahu and Biden had agreed to restart the water flow to certain southern Gazan neighborhoods, a minister said on Sunday.

The more than 1 million people of Gaza City were among the 600,000 Gazans who, according to the Israeli military, abandoned the northern part of the region.

Some Palestinians who traveled south claimed they were returning home after being assaulted everywhere.

Early on Monday, Israeli planes bombarded the vicinity of the Al-Quds hospital in Gaza City; as a result, ambulances at the facility are immobile, according to Palestinian media.

According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, Israel warned the hospital to evacuate on Saturday, but cannot get ill and injured patients out of the institution. According to Philippe Lazzarini, commissioner general of the UN organization for the Palestinians, UNRWA, UN humanitarian efforts in Gaza “are on the verge of collapsing.”
