France’s Macron says Bangladesh commits to ordering 10 Airbus aircraft. On Monday, Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, said that Bangladesh has committed to acquiring ten aircraft from Airbus (AIR.PA). This is the South Asian nation’s first agreement with the European planemaker and represents a move away from its Boeing-dominated fleet.
The purchase of the A350 widebody jets, which is still being finalized, is thought to be with the national flagship airline Biman Bangladesh Airlines Ltd., according to French authorities.
“I am grateful for putting your faith in the European aerospace industry. “And this commitment for ten Airbus A350s is important,” Macron said in a statement to the media following a meeting with the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina.
The Biman, who is now 51 years old, More than half of the planes in Bangladesh’s fleet are widebodies, making up more than half of the total number of aircraft in Bangladesh’s fleet, including several Dash-8 turboprops.
“We have requested for a total of ten aircraft to be delivered in stages. The evaluation is now being done by the technical committee. Both new and established flight paths will be flown by these aircraft. Every nation’s fleet includes both Airbus and Boeing aircraft. However, we only have Boeing and none of the Airbus models,” Ali said.

According to Mahbub Ali, the junior minister for civil aviation in Bangladesh, the first purchase would be for two Airbus jets.
