Unlimited Rides on an Uber is Cheaper than a Metro Card

As weird as it sounds, buying unlimited rides for an Uber is cheaper than buying a monthly metro card. Starting on July 11 at 4:30 pm, residents in Manhattan can buy unlimited passes for UberPool during commute hours. The unlimited Uber pass is exactly $37.60 cheaper than an unlimited metrocard. Not only is Uber cheaper, it is more comfortable. Nobody wants to sweat it out in a Subway station in the middle of summer.

Uber has outperformed Lyft for the cheapest rides in the city. Uber now provides two-week passes for forty-nine dollars, four-week passes for seventy-nine dollars, and eight-week passes for a hundred and fifty-nine dollars. This offer only lasts until September due to a partnership with Gilt. The passes can only be used below 125th street in Manhattan during seven to ten in the morning and five to eight in the evening on weekdays. The only downside is that the offer only applies to one person, meaning you can’t ride with a friend or family member.

The pass is even cheaper if you get a referral from a friend on Gilt. The referral gives you an additional twenty-five dollars off. If you live in Manhattan and want a cheap ride to and from work, why not take up Uber’s offer?
