The times of accidentally sending an email to the wrong person or regretting sending it as soon as you send it is over, because Google’s Gmail now has a feature that allows you to “Undo Send.”
We have all wished for something that could undo an email and felt embarrassed as the clock ticked down until the recipient contacted you. Whether it was a drunken angry email or a love confession, everyone has their impulses, but just as soon as you press send, you freak out.
Well, when that freak out period happens you have up to 30 seconds to quickly undo your send. In the Gmail settings, you can now set the “Undo Send” feature and give yourself either 5, 10 or 30 seconds, depending on how quick your reaction time is.
“Today we’re adding ‘Undo Send’ as a formal setting in Gmail on the web,” announced Google on their blog.
As of now,
“The feature is turned off by default for those not currently using the Labs version, and can be enabled from the General tab in Gmail settings.”

But there are some drawbacks to this feature; it does not work on mobile devices unless you download Gmail’s Inbox app, not the regular Gmail app or other mail apps. Back in May, Google’s executive Sundar Pichai announced 75% of their Gmail users access their accounts on mobile devices. So, not being able to access the feature anywhere could become a problem for the company.
Yet, there could be more developments coming as the feature just came from their lab experiments, which is described as “a testing ground for experimental features that aren’t quite ready for primetime.”
No matter what, this feature can help prevent many of the embarrassing emails accidentally sent and save you from any panics.
